Murray Grainger is one of Britain's most influential and innovative accordionists. Whether working with the finest orchestras, pushing the boundaries with his traditional projects or teaching around the UK, Murray is at the forefront of the British accordion scene


Murray Grainger is in a priviledged position, having been trained in the classical accordion at The Royal Academy of Music, he has performed
internationally, and taught classical, folk and traditional techniques at prominent
musical instructions.

Murray has broad experience of performing with the finest orchestras, musicians and at prominent venues, including:

• The Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Promenade Series
• The South Bank Centre with the BBC Symphony Orchestra
• Celtic Connections
• Edinburgh International Festival
• Festival Interceltic de Lorient, France.
• Folk Est, Italy,
• The Usher Hall, with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra
• Sidmouth International Festival

In the field of accordion education Murray’s credentials are second to none, having taught at Chetham’s School of Music, Newcastle University’s Folk and Traditional Music course, and as the Director of Education for Young Musicians Stornoway.
